A breath of fresh air

A Breath of fresh air...
What an exciting month this September is to me...
Bangkok is full of happening events and new interesting resetaurants...

Dean & DeLuca finally find it's way to be here in Bangkok. Wow! I do love thier small tins of herbs & spices to bits. Now they are here for me to pick them home, lovely. These small lovely tins are not only good, flavourful, aromatic but hey are also very difficult to find here in Bangkok... something like "Moroccan spices, Cajun spices, herbes de Provence, Fleur del Sel, ect,.
I always love having a cup of "Cafe au lait" at Dean & DeLuca. Now, one doesn't need to be in New York to have one! Wicked!

Nahm by Chef David Thomson is opening on September 2nd, 2010 at the Metropolitan Hotel. he has been testing his menu every night for weeks. Laurence (my colleague) who is a good friend of DT is invited to dine there tonight. (Off course, I am not jealous at all.) He promises to email the pictures and everything esle to me. Very nice of him, indeed.

The Bangkok 11th Annual of World Gourmet
which organizes by the Four Seasons will start from September 6th to 11th, 201. The Michelin-starred & award winning chefs will parade in the Four Seasons here in Bangkok. I can't really wait...

Oh well, there is a bright blue sky after the big storm... My darling Bangkok... I do love you.

hot chocolate from harvey nics food hall

Harvey Nichols Food Hall

I have been to many high-end foodhalls in those big cities in Europe (you name it : at Gallery Lafayette, at Printemps, at Fauchon in Paris or at Fortnum & Mason, at Selfridges Food Hall, at the famous Food Hall at Harrods in London… etc.,
But the 2 places I am so very fond of are at a corner of the Conran Shop where once selling loads of food products in style (the concept was very much the same as harvey nics but for some reason - they didnt seem to want to extend thier products).. and the best is my very very beloved Harvey Nichols foodhall.

On the 5th floor at Harvy Nics (Brits like to call it “Harvey Nics”), you will find restaurants & cafe (you can go having afternoon tea or sushi there) and a very high-end supermarket where sells one of the best premium food products in London; Parmigiano Reggiano, Olive Oil, Balsamic , Tuna cans, Sun dried Tomato, Caviar, Cheeses, etc,.
They manage to do it in the most stylish way… Oh well, they know how to sell expensive things in a very interesting & very stylish way. Very very good vibe... very happening... very good taste & very good & unique style.I love going there... ermm I think I can live there...

I adore their bakery as they manage to bake those mini bagels (white sesame, black sesame, plain, onion, raisin & whole grain) and sell them in one pack which is very cute and yummy!!

They have a branch in Hong Kong now – and believe it or not – the owner of my beloved Harvey Nics is a Chinese Millionaire who is based in Hong Kong.

I am not sure why it becomes my most favourite. Its probably that in there you will find the best products from all regions and they come in a very unique and most stylish package.

Find below a recipe fro a Chocolate Drink which I got from Harvey Nics.

Ingredients
• 25g of Chocolate Drink (75% Cacao)from Harvey Nics
• 100ml of Whole Milk ( Low Fat is optional)
• Honey or sugar, to taste

Preparation
1.Tip the cacao and milk into a small pan and bring to the boil, stirring frequently.
2.When thick and well combined, remove the hot chocolate from the heat.
3.Add honey or sugar to taste. You can thin the hot chocolate by adding extra water or by adding a splash of more milk or rum. Vanilla, chilli, cinnamon and nutmeg also make great additions.
4.Serve in a French cup with Chocolate Mdeleines on the side.

sweet lips smoothie @ the oriental shop

Sweet Lips Smoothie @ The Oriental Shop

I am a big fan of Smoothie, especially with strawberry smoothie or anything that has strawberry to do with it.

This "Sweet Lips" is exceptional as it has no strawberry but I still like it very much. Its kind of nice as it is a mix of Fresh Mango, Fresh Beetroot, Lychee Juice and Plain Yogurt.
Its very re-freshing and very good for your immune system. Loads of Vitamins. (I will find a recipe to add later on.)

Smoothie is very fast and easy to do.. you can try at home.
Although its not entirely healthy for adults having too much of smoothie but its nice & fun doing & having its once in a while.
If you have kids... Smoothie is a good way to trick them to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables... and kids can have lots of smoothie as they are full of energy to keep they going. We dont have to worry much about them gaining extra weight or having too much of sugar intake.
At least, letting them drink fresh fruit Smoothie is much much better than letting them drink fizzy Soda!!

This thai dessert is very nice and yummy.
Its too rich and too heavy to serve after a meal.
You can serve it with Tea in late afternooon.
You always can get it at every corner in Thailand.

Get a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and then put almond flakes on top and serve.

But here in Bangkok, you can get the best from "The Oriental Shop" who makes as almost the same quality ice-cream as Haagen Dazs at only half the price.

Their Ice-Cream comes in wild variety of choices & Flovours.
